Las Vegas 7-11 to Kwik-E-Mart conversion
Found this on the interweb:

The owner of this location was quoted in the Washington Post story (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...070100510.html)

Quote:
"There was definitely a concern of offending people," she said. "But they seemed to understand that 'The Simpsons' makes fun of everybody. The vast majority saw this as a great opportunity."

That's the case for Kumar Assandas, a 28-year-old franchisee whose parents immigrated from India. His store in suburban Las Vegas is one of the temporary Kwik-E-Marts.

"I know it's a stereotype, but it doesn't bother me. Everybody knows it's a joke," Assandas said. "I'm a big Simpsons fan myself, and maybe subconsciously it even inspired me to become a 7-Eleven owner."
I walked in and saw a guy standing in the back who looked like he would be named Kumar... asked if it was him and said that I saw him in the story and thought his quote was funny. he was really cool about it - introduced himself and asked me my name, then asked exactly where I saw the story so he could check it out.

they had Kwik-E-Mart uniforms, too... the two (female) clerks had name tags that said Hugh Jass and Mike Crotch, respectively.

7-Eleven will definitely recoup their investment for this stunt... I spent over $8, and everyone was buying the Simpsons stuff. the store was mobbed. you can see the security guard they hired in the first photo
